GROUP HEAD CHEF - PRIVATE CARE HOMES
North London
Up to £45,000 + Benefits
Are you a classically trained Chef with a fine dining or luxury hospitality background, ready to revolutionise care home dining? This isn't your typical care home chef role - we are looking for a culinary leader to transform our clients' multi-site operation and create something truly special.
The Challenge:
Our client is a highly regarded family-run care group that has brought its catering in-house and now needs a Group Head Chef to elevate the dining experience across three beautiful homes. You'll be the culinary authority, developing teams, creating innovative menus, and putting residents at the heart of the dining experience to create dishes that ‘taste like home’.
The role:
- Lead and develop 3 site-based kitchen teams
- Design seasonal menus with creative flair and nutritional expertise
- Organise special dining events, themed nights, and summer BBQs
- Involve residents and families in menu planning and feedback
- Take full operational control - stock management, rotas, budgets
- Split time strategically across all 3 sites
- Cover kitchen operations during Chef absences
- Report directly to the senior team
What you will bring:
- Professional Chef qualifications
- Fine dining or luxury hotel background (5-star experience ideal)
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Care home experience highly advantageous but not essential
- Strong people skills - to liaise comfortably with residents, families, and staff
- Operational expertise - budgets, stock control, compliance
- Creative vision combined with practical execution
The opportunity:
This family-run business values personal relationships and individual contribution. You'll have genuine autonomy to shape the entire culinary program, with direct access to senior leadership and the resources to make real change.
Unlike corporate environments, your ideas will be heard and implemented quickly. The successful candidate will help showcase exceptional dining as a cornerstone of outstanding care.
The reward:
Competitive salary up to £45,000 (exceptional candidates with strong qualifications and outstanding people skills may find room for negotiation)
- Benefits package
- Professional development opportunities
- Join a growing, values-driven organisation
- Real autonomy and creative freedom
Selection Process:
- Initial interview with Featherbank Selection (w/c 25th September)
- Client interview includes practical trade test plus interview (allow 3 hours)
- Possible psychometric and IT assessment
- Bring your whites and knives - show us what you can do!
